Protocol Discussion
 

It's been a while since this has been debated, so I thought I would start the battle fresh. What protocol (X10, UPB, Insteon, ZWave, etc) do you prefer? Pros/cons please.

I have been using the Smarthome Switchlink products for the last 9 years, and love the feel of the traditional switches, but haven't been too happy with their longevity. I have replaced nearly 20 switches in 8 years, and at $45 each that's a bit much. As well, although I didn't realize it at the time, the Switchlinks require a common wire at 3-way locations, which I do not have, so I am looking to start fresh. Your thoughts on what hardware you've experienced would be greatly appreciated.
