Home Automated Living wants to give you every opportunity to grow your HAL home control system and to keep it up-to-date. This is done by Updating or Upgrading your HAL software. Read the definitions below to determine if you want to Update or Upgrade your system.
Update An update is a newer version of the same software. This is shown by a change in the last two set of digits in the version number. For example, going from version 6.0.3 of HALdeluxe to version 6.0.22 of HALdeluxe is an update. An update contains minor fixes and feature enhancements. There is no charge for an update if you are under a current Software Maintenance subscription. If you have a Maintenance Subscription you can got to the Downloads page to download the latest update. A CD of the update can also be requested for a nominal fee.

Version Upgrade This is an upgrade within the same software. This is shown by a change in the first set of digits in the version number (third set of digits may change as well). For example, going from version 5.0.35 of HALdeluxe to version 6.0.22 of HALdeluxe is a version upgrade. There is a small fee for a version upgrade. So a Version Upgrade would be going form any version 1.x through version 5.x to the new version 6.0.
Software Upgrade This is an upgrade from one software product to another. For instance, if you own HALdeluxe you can upgrade to HALultra. Currently there is no upgrade option beyond HALultra. HALdmc and HALvoices do not have upgrade options and are upgraded as you upgrade your HAL product. The cost of the upgrade depends on which software you're upgrading. When you upgrade to another software product, you must be on the most current version of the product you are upgrading from. So if you want to upgrade from HALdeluxe version 4.0.73, you must first upgrade to the current version 6 of HALdeluxe and then you may upgrade your HALdeluxe to HALultra.
