What is the HALdmc and how is it different from other music players such as WinAmp or Windows Media Player?

The HAL Digital Music Center (HALdmc) is a full-scan music player. The big difference between the HALdmc and other music players is that you can control the HALdmc by voice. For instance, with the HALdmc, you can say, "Play Beatles" or "Play my Rock and Roll music" or "Play the song The Downeaster Alexa."

The HALdmc automatically categorizes music on your computer by artist, album, genre, and year. You can ask HAL to play music in one of those categories, such as playing the Eagles, the album "Hotel California", classic rock-and-roll music, or music from the 70's.

You can also create custom song lists, such as "Favorites", "Mix", "Romantic Evening", "Loud Party", or anything else that you can come up with. And it's all controlled by voice!

The HALdmc also has a CD Recorder/Player screen. Not only can you play CDs, but you can also copy music from your CDs for playback at any time. HAL will also categorize this music by artist, album, genre, and year.

You can even automate the HALdmc! Have music start playing in the morning to wake you up or have music start playing in the living room as soon as you walk in the front door or have music play softly in the dining room when you set the room scene to "Dinner for Two".
