Why do some of my songs show up as "Unknown" or are blank in the HALdmc screen?

Solution

There are two main reasons why song information may not be displayed:

There isn't any song information contained in the song file. Song files only contain song information if they were recorded with software (such as the HALdmc) which obtained and stored the information as part of the song. If the song information is not in the song file then the HALdmc cannot display that information. However, the HALdmc allows you to easily create and edit song information for all of your song files.
The song file has song information, but it is stored in a format that the HALdmc does not recognize.

NOTE: Songs downloaded from the Internet do not typically contain song information. You can create information for these songs through the HALdmc. Go to "Modifying Song Information" in the HAL's Digital Music Center section of the HAL Online Help Guide.
