How do I get my computer name?

Right-click on the ear icon and click OPEN SYSTEM SETTINGS or go to Start... Programs... HAL... HAL System Settings.  When the HAL Settings screen appears, double-click on HOMENET.  The HomeNet Settings screen displays the computer name for your computer.

You can also find or modify the computer name by following the steps below:

For Windows 98/Me:
Right-click on the My Network Places icon, generally located on the desktop.  Click on the Identification tab.  Change the computer name.

For Windows 2000:
Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.  Click the Network Identification tab then click the Properties tab.  Change the computer name.

For Windows XP:
Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop or the Start menu.  Click the Computer Nametab.  Change the computer name.

NOTE: The computer name cannot contain spaces.
